Investigation Summary

On the morning of February 7, 2025, a private Beechcraft F90 King Air, registration PS-FEM, took off from runway 30 at Campo de Marte Airport (SBMT) for a flight to Porto Alegre. Shortly after liftoff, the pilot communicated an apparent engine failure to air traffic control and requested an immediate return to the airfield. The aircraft executed a left-hand turn but was unable to maintain altitude. It impacted Avenida Marquês de São Vicente in the Barra Funda district, approximately 2.5 kilometers west of the airport. During the crash sequence, the aircraft struck a public transport bus and skidded down the roadway before being consumed by a post-impact fire. While both the pilot and the passenger (the aircraft's owner) were killed, the occupants of the bus and other bystanders survived, though seven individuals required medical attention for injuries sustained during the ground impact. Although some initial reports cited a distance of 7 km, the impact site at Avenida Marquês de São Vicente is located significantly closer to the runway 30 departure path.

Final Conclusions

The investigation is being conducted by the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (CENIPA). As of February 2025, the investigation is in its initial stages. Preliminary data indicates a reported engine failure followed by a loss of control during the attempted return to the departure airport.
