Seeking to provide passengers with a scenic view, Dobson requested a VMC climb that took the aircraft directly into this hazardous zone. An 8mm film recovered from the wreckage, shot by a passenger, provided crucial evidence: two frames were found to be blurred or skipped, suggesting the camera mechanism jammed due to momentary loads of up to 7.5 g just before the break-up.
